I have known PJ for years and it has been a pleasure watching him grow and watch what he can do on a bike. Cant wait to see what his future holds for him.
-Jeremy Knapper When my oldest son started racing BMX, we always watched for PJ. At the time he raced 20" and cruiser, and we always knew when he was coming with his bright colors! Now that I know PJ, I see his drive and his potential. He is still a favorite to watch, between his skill as a racer and his awesome boosting skills! Keep going, PJ! You will do great things!
-Carol Hample, HCBMX Track Director I remember the first time I saw PJ racing. It was his first year in the sport. What caught my attention was this little kid gritting his teeth and charging down the starting hill as if on a mission. And on a mission he is! Even today, I am in awe when I see him blasting jumps on and off the track. I know a lot of people will say, “He has a natural talent.” That is false! PJ puts in so much effort and works so hard every time he pushes down on a pedal. He has EARNED the talent he has gained at a very young age.
-Jay Jones PJ O'Brien has come a long way in his BMX Program. Over the past few years he has shown great strides in his athletic ability, and his desire to race. Whether he is on the local track or at the National level, he gives his heart in every race while showing true sportsmanship. I hope to see him picked up by a national sponsored team and he races his heart out. Great job PJ
-BMX Butch is proud of you! PJ is a great BMX Racer and Jumper and he is an Awesome Friend!
-Tyler Bailey Hey PJ, It is such a pleasure to know you and watch you grow though BMX. You race with your heart and put everything into each race. You keep our spirits up under the tent/pit with your wonderful sense of humor and I wish I had half your energy. You also have one of the coolest hairstyles that I have ever seen. Good luck with your training/races, be safe and have fun.
-Your BMX friend Bridget Holland Stone I have never met such a young child so determined to succeed. Not only is he naturally talented, he is one of the bravest people I have encountered.
-Robert Hensley When I first heard about PJ , he was the kid that had his arm broke by flipping the gate . I didn't think much of it, but the next season I started announcing races and there was PJ , out in front of the pack . I gave him the nickname "THE BULLET " because when the gate drops, it's like he was shot out of the barrel of a .45. I started racing in 1983 and I have seen riders come and go. PJ has "IT" and by that I mean he has the intangibles that make up a winner . Determined, resilient with a drive to be the best, and he also has something that I never had--God given talent. I look forward to watching his young career grow into something great . Just remember when you're accepting your gold medal for BMX in the 2024 Olympics and the announcer says PJ "THE BULLET " O'Brien that I gave you that name. In a quote from the movie RAD, "I never saw such raw determination and talent in just one kid." I call it like I see it. He's a great kid and the sky's the limit.
-Tom Donahue Announcer Little PJ O'Brien is one of the best kids I have met in BMX. He's funny, he's cool, and a great rider. And I can't wait to ride with him this season.
-Matt DeChristino PJ is a child who knows the joy of play and the pursuit of excellence. It is gratifying to observe a boy working hard and enjoying it while building friendships, pursuing information and building skills.
-John Gill I have not known PJ for a long while, but he is an awesome racer. PJ is always killing it at every race he goes to, therefore you only hear his name a few times: the first race, the semi, and the main!
-Sydney N. PJ has to be one of the bravest kids we know. He is a kid who rides for himself not to impress others. He is quite and caring. We can honestly say that some of our best BMX trips have been those that he has been there and the fun we have had after a race. He is one of the reasons that we decided to run the track for so long. Seeing riding like his made it all worthwhile.
-The Heaths PJ is a great friend of mine. He is fun to ride with and I think he has great BMX racing skills and park skills. He has a bright future in the sport and I wish him much success!
-Brady B. "PJ is one of the coolest kids I know with amazing bike skills."
-Andy Currie Owner Team Chip N Dale I was there when PJ had his accident, in fact I helped pull the gate off of him. That day is tattooed in my mind forever. To see where he is today after that tragedy is truly inspirational. PJ is a brave dude with a big heart. I look forward to watching him continue to mature in the sport and will always be a fan.
-Trevor Hoeckele PJ s a rad little dude that has left a permanent mark in my mind...forever. His story is as incredible as his potential. Lil' dude is rad!!

My family has been watching PJ ride for the past few years we've been involved in BMX - 1st catching our eye with his style during practice, then speed during the races. More recently we've gotten to know PJ off the track - having fun goofing off with friends, but also giving advice & offering to ride with others who look up to him! He is a great kid, with the determination that will take him far!! Look forward to next time seeing you on the track!!
-Anne Niederberger PJ reminds me of myself when I was younger. With fire in his eyes, he's full of heart as he pursues his goals. Looking forward to big things from PJ as his BMX Racing career continues! Go get'm buddy!
-Elite Pro Donny Robinson PJ is a terrific kid, both on the track and in the pits. His love for riding and racing is clear as evident by his determination to get back on the bike after being dealt a terrible accident at Howell, flipping the gate and breaking his arm. This kids nearly always smiling and finding a way to check out a bike, no matter how big the bike is, he'll ride it! We were at K-Mart once, and PJ just shipped his pants, right there, shipped them home."
-Dave Brink, co-mgr Trilogy BMX and track race announcer P.J. O'Brien is one awesome kid! He has been one of my sons good friends since he was 5. P.J. is very talented on his bike! He is one fearless little guy. He has such a great love for the sport of bmx. I am so proud of him for putting out the message "I Ride I Wear". I know he will go very far in the sport! Not only is he one of the fastest kids around, he has mad skills on the track! He is an all around great kid and it is a pleasure knowing him, and exciting that he and my son are on the same team!
-Lynda Dorofee You always make us proud. You have seen many challenges and each time you always keep on going forward, and you are making amazing strides toward getting better and better each day. A few of our coaches have taught us, there will always be someone training just as hard or harder somewhere. Make sure to be honest with yourself about your love of what you do, your hard work and your dedication, because that is what sets you apart from the rest. There will always be those who admire you, be kind to them. There will always be those who think pulling you down pushes them in front, but never push back. Rather stand tall. We truly believe you are a star. Keep making us proud. Keep doing what you love. Never lose your spirit!
-Kim and Telmo Nunes PJ is a great kid. Fun to ride with. He is very talented for his age. Funny, Cool. I think it's amazing when he is jumping into the huge triple at the track. PJ, is always doing something new. Either Jumping or doing some manuals. He is going to very successful. He is going to be the next Maris Strombergs!
-John Regan One of the coolest things about being an announcer is seeing raw talent, and knowing it. That being said... I remember the first time I saw PJ ride. It was at an NBL regional race at City View BMX in Hazelton, P.A. I recall being so impressed by this little guy out front with the very Irish name!! As years went by PJ has constantly amazed me! He's got a great snap, jumps everything, manages the track well, and has a will to win that is rare even in BMX!! This kid's future in this sport is so bright that we should all double down on Ray-Ban stock!! I just hope when PJ O'Brien is standing on the medal stand, wearing an Olympic medal, I would have been the one to call the race!! Cheers PJ!! Keep pushing those pedals!!
Your good friend and fan, -Lou Mota I came back in to BMX in 2012 as I introduced it to my 5 year old son. We came out to CJBMX and met PJ and the O'Brien family and they were instantly welcoming. PJ was hammering out of the gate and tearin' around the track, it was clear he has the skills, speed and power to be a top rider for years to come. What struck me most was the passion he has for being on his bike! The kid loves to ride! He was happy to show our little guy around the track and help him find his way as a 5 & Under Novi. We look forward to keeping up with PJ and sharing in his passion for the bike!
-Paul Whittle, Team Manager Kaos Northeast PJ is cool and does some awesome tricks.
- Gavin M. You rock! You're the coolest kid ever. You inspire me and all who ride bikes!
-Mike Kulp Over the years I have seen a lot of kids, but you look at PJ and you think a kid that small cant be that fast, well you would be wrong. Not only is he fast (Yes He has snapped me on the gate in practice) but he also can sky. As for guts and determination; I was there the day the gate fell on him, and most kids would be traumatized and not want to race again, but PJ not only came back, he came back like he never lost a step. As serious as he is on the track, he is the average kid off of it often goofing around with the other kids.
He also has a good support system aka mom & dad. And we all know that is the key at his age. I look at PJ and the rest of the kids his age and I see the future of BMX racing and in this old dog’s opinion, the future is bright! -Anthony AntDog Brown PJ is one of the most talented 7 year old kids I know on a bike and a well rounded kid both on and off of the track. He is a joy to work and ride with and always pushing his limits to better himself. PJ always puts on a show at the race tracks and is constantly asking how he can improve his racing. Talk about determination!
-Danny Smith Factory Roadkill A-Pro PJ is cool!
